Humor me. I am bored to death. Assume I will have max 2 kids by then (0 now) So a good new or used vehicle under $35K in 2022.

Car preferred, or Wagon. I can’t think of any Crossover I’ve liked driving but then again I haven’t driven the ones from Porsche...

Should have good handling and performance. RWD >RWD based AWD> FWD based torque vectoring AWD a la SH-AWD/Quattro. 300+HP or 250+HP if torque is very good, Turbo 4, V6, V8 all Ok, Must be fairly reliable so don’t suggest an Alfa/Maserati. Luxury or Premium marques preferred. I like good steering, comfortable yet bolstered heated/ventilated seats and rear passenger space, decent trunk, don’t care about the infotainment too much.

Mostly suburban driving, 10% highway so 0-45, 30-50, passing times more important than top end but I never say no to more POWAA

Imagine a car that doesn’t exist today but might come into the market 2 years from now and available as a CPO 3 years after.

Imagine how much more gas prices might have gone up by 2022?

Imagine a performance version of a regular car available today

Update: Thoight of some options Genesis G70? G80? A Q70? Lexus Gs? E550? 550i/540i? Stinger? Acura TLx RLx Type-S? AudiA6? V60? V90?

What should it be?

If you have kids, your only job is to keep them safe. You buy a box of airbags, whatever Volvo floats your boat. Keep them safe, keep them healthy.

V10 manual M5s will be going up in price, guaranteed! Drive the wheels off it, get rid of it at minimal loss when you’re bored, or even better, keep it around for eventual profit because we all know the Germans will never stuff an n/a V10 into a sedan ever again

Glad you said champagne instead of beige. Maybe there will be a turbo hybrid V6 AWD version in 2022

If only..I know someone who has 2 small kids and the f10 m5 auto but the V10’s a ticking time bomb IMO and I probably wont make that gamble at that stage despite possibly having a second car.

JZX100. Importable in 2021.

Downsides: everyone will think it’s a Camry. Upsides: everyone will think it’s a Camry.

Gsf ticks all the boxes, but xc90 will probably be the safest for your family and still looks pretty.

The Volvo V90 or Regal TourX

There’s also the TSX wagon we got from like 2010-12 or something like that. A little older than you prefer, but it’s a Honda with VTEC and hte luxury and prestige you’re looking for.

I didn’t really care for the TLX from a driving standpoint. At least it looks good.

The answer is always Bronco. You should have a good selection of CPO ones by then.

See stuff like this is something only parents can think about and I would have no clue. Maybe Volvo will make a cross country version v60 or v90 with taller ride height. Still may not be enough.

Only if it has the rumoured Turbo V6 in the possible Type-S version. And they have to fix the 9 speed or put the 10 speed from the Accord, and get rid of the twin screen infotainment. Maybe it is a reality in 2022...

Bronco renders looks so cool but body on Frame? As much as I like the 4Runners and Jeeps that appeal stops with daily driving them especially as a family vehicle. Sure lots of people do it. Not for me unless It is a winter only scecond car but then again I live in the South and winter is 1 inch if snow 3 days a year.

Ugh, yes, the 9-speed is awful. I think I’m going to ask for an ILX next time I get the TSX serviced long enough to warrant a loaner.

Love the V60, but my God, so expensive all the Volvos.

I know I’m 3 days late to the boredom party but Volvo does make a V90 CC and will likely do the same with the new V60. All V90s in the US are CCs unless you or the dealer special orders a “plain” one.
